About Electrolysis

Is electrolysis permanent?

Yes. Electrolysis safely and permanently removes all types of hair from all skin tones. Once the follicle is destroyed, it will never grow another hair.

What happens during an electrolysis treatment?

A sterile probe, the same size as the hair, is placed into the natural pore opening. The electrologist aims toward the dermal papilla, which feeds the growing hair, and a small release of current destroys it. The hair is then removed.

How many treatments will I need?

Electrolysis involves a series of treatments over a period of time. The length of time depends on the amount of hair, its coarseness and other factors. Because hormones can stimulate dormant follicles throughout life, needs vary from person to person.

Which areas can be treated?

Sensitive areas such as the eyebrows, chin, upper and lower lip, jaw line, sides of the face, breasts, underarms, fingers and toes, as well as larger areas such as the abdomen, bikini line, legs and back.

Comparing Hair Removal Methods

Why should I choose electrolysis over waxing?

Unlike tweezing, threading, waxing and shaving, professionally performed electrolysis eliminates unwanted hair permanently. Other methods may create ingrown hairs or even an increase in hair growth.

Electrolysis vs. laser and waxing →

Why should I choose electrolysis over laser hair removal?

Electrolysis is the only form of permanent hair removal recognized by the American Medical Association. The FDA prohibits laser hair removal from being advertised as permanent.
